A walk along the Gothic Line
positions

As previously announced on this site, on May 1 2005 we organized a guided tour of the Gothic Line positions in the Giogo Pass area. This covered the “A” (Giogo Pass and Mount Altuzzo) and “B” (Monticelli area) excursions. A small group of participants was escorted on a trip along the German positions where the advance of the US 85th and 91st Infantry Division had been checked for a few days in September, 1944, by the 4th Fallshirmjaeger regiment and supporting troops. Our guides detailed the history of those battles and gave explanations with maps and wartime photographs.
