The Column Of Liberation: Some
Information For Our Foreign Fellows
One year has gone by since Pope
Francis, in recognition of the universal values the Convoy of
Liberation stands for, gave his public greetings to our crews, in
front of a huge throng of crowd. Values like peace, democracy,
family, toil and labor. Values, often endangered in today's world,
which go hand in hand, for us, with our common passion for
historical vehicles, their preservation, restoration, and
operation, and for that age in history which is getting farther
and farther but still displays it long-lasting effects in our
world.
We believe comprehending, beyond the
all too common self-serving political distortions, the historical
reality of the dark years of WWII, in all of their complexity,
helps us to avoid repeating the mistakes which lead humanity to
its most devastating conflict in history.
The Convoy of Liberation is an
open-air museum traveling to its public, acting as a stimulus to
study history, go to a museum, read a book, or - why not - search
for "history" on the net. Mechanics, uniforms study, photography,
research - all of these disciplines are the interests of the
Convoy of Liberation participants.
This year we celebrate the 70th
anniversary of the Liberation of Northern Italy, and the end of
the Italian campaign. As usual, the Convoy will visit new cities
than in the past - places directly involved in those events of
April, 1945. This is also going to be a special edition of the
Convoy which will include a rendezvous with "The Convoy of
Victory" made up of about 30 vehicles and 100 people coming
directly from Brazil to honor the Brazilian Expeditionary Force
which fought alongside the Allies in Italy during winter, 1944-45.
Brazilian HMV collectors have a long and lasting friendship with
us, and have supported and collaborated with past editions of the
Convoy of Liberation.
We believe the Convoy of Liberation
2015 will be a new opportunity for taking part in an event rich in
emotions, meetings with interesting people having similar
passions, admiring rare and well restored HMV's, sharing expertise
and learning new ways for bettering our vehicles.
Well, it's time to start the engines and move out.
The edition 2015 of the "Column of Liberation" realizes a dream.
The dream to share the magnificent adventure with someone who knows fully appreciate the value of the partnership, the love for the Olive Drab, the importance of networking to facilitate and improve the restoration of our vehicles, the pleasure of sharing experience, history and knowledge beyond the national borders!
Everything originates from the participation of a small but qualified representation HMV to the American Convention of MVPA, the worldwide club to which HMV itself is an affiliate member; downstream of this experience, in fact, it was decided to host two Directors MVPA to the next edition of the "Column".
And, behold, therefore, that Steve Preston (Convention Chairman) and Tom Wolboldt (Secretary) will be among us these days!

MVPA is an association founded in 1976 and is pursuing effectively, thanks to the active participation of its 8000 members and 100 affiliated clubs, the mission to devote itself to make available an international organization in favor of the historians and enthusiasts of vehicles military historians, collectors interested in the acquisition, restoration, preservation, safe to use and finally to the disclosure of military transport history. HMV strongly believes in the synergy between all the involved players, and recognizes the international commitment of MVPA.
The crews participating to the "Column 2015", MVPA will give a free copy of the magazine "Army Motors/Supply Line".
In the registration package, therefore, you will find a postcard which will give you the possibility to sign up to MVPA with one extraordinary discount of $5 (five dollars) on selected formula (discount "Column" ). In addition, the MVPA is pleased to propose for the 2015 - instead of the classic "overseas" charge of $70 - an exceptional "World " offer, that includes the online version of the printed magazine, of $ 35 only ! (That, with the discount "Column", are reduced to only $30, that is, about 27 euro only! ).
We are sure that the initiative of which HMV is proud, can meet your appreciation and brings to an increases in number of accessions to MVPA!
