Foreword

Organizing a “Convoy of Liberation” is somewhat like visiting a friend at his place. Each edition visits places unknown to many but dear to yet others in our midst. And, as it happens in such circumstances, we always come back home conscious we found, learned something new,  Italy is a Country we love with its vast universe of places, perfumes, tastes, history, and landscapes, our hearts opening just by thinking about this richness. Being welcomed by the people who live and keep alive these traditions, however, is something else, infinitely valuable to us.

Finding out, as best we can in the safety of Peace, the feelings of those who fought or endured one of the longest campaigns of World War II, is an unending discovery, made of the oral testimonies of the people we meet – their ranks getting sadly thinner every passing year – but also of images, stories, writings which today's technologies make available to all.

Yes, technology has made it immensely easier to find photos, information, people who made history 70 years before, and their descendants,  than it was only a few years ago.
The passion for historic military vehicles however is not something residing in information clouds somewhere on servers distant thousands of miles from us. It is something you live by listening to the roar of old engines, the squeaking of leaf springs, by smelling gasoline fumes and treated canvas, by not being able to stop the wind from leashing at you in open cab vehicles. Technology has nothing to do with all this. As it cannot take the place of your inner satisfaction for having completed a long, difficult restoration which many people would have deemed an impossible task. And, for riding your vehicle in the mid of hundreds of like-minded collectors who with passion, dedication and commitment bring alive the largest HMV in Italy.
The Convoy of Liberation (now a trademarked name) is a living museum on wheels, and all who take part in it live a unique experience. We will not forget the values which are its deep inspirational motivations -  peace, democracy, family, and opportunity for earning a fair pay through hard work. Values which underline our passion for historical vehicles, their restoration and preservation for future generations.

But enough with talking, it’s time to start the engines. Move it
